OLR with a unique concept

Marismas Masters Race was established to develop a unique concept One Loft Race in Europe,
where the care and comfort of the pigeons is the priority in order to develop their full sporting potential.

Experience has shown that when pigeons race while being too young, during shedding season and with high temperatures, there are too many losses. Therefore, we have developed a race in which participating pigeons are perfectly grown and fully moulted. This led us to moving the dates of the event to the months of January to March of 2025, taking advantage of the soft winters of the southern Spain.

Spain Map

Location

Marismas Masters Race takes place in the locality of Puebla del Río. The race is named after its closeness to the Guadalquivir marshlands (¨marismas¨ in Spanish). It boasts to have a priviliged position, 25 minutes from Seville, one of the most stunning cities in Spain, and perfectly communicated, both by its international airport, connected with the main capitals in Europe, and by the high speed train lines within the country.

Planning

Pigeons will stay at the loft for 8 to 11 months, giving them enough time to complete their growth and development, both physical and mental. Their training for the competition will begin with a series of progressive flights, being in the loft at first. Later, the training phase from different spots of the flying line will start, this being aimed to allow pigeons to get familiar with the environment, basketing and transport.

This phase will take place during the months of November and December, 2024, looking forward to starting the competition by the end of January, 2025, with the activation race. It will be specially emphasized, sparing no trainings to make sure the pigeons acquire the appropriate shape. The competition will consist of 10 races to conclude in the Final, with nearly 500 km, at the end of March or first week of April, depending on the weather.

The pigeon loft has a capacity for 2,400 pigeons with individual perches, with a capacity limited to 1,500, providing them with greater space, ventilation and comfort.

General conditions

Registration

The reception of the pigeons will take place from May 1 to August 15, 2024. National or international ring pigeons from the year 2024 may participate. The pigeons will be checked and subjected to quarantine upon reception 2024.

Places will be granted in order of receipt of registrations, so they will be guaranteed once the teams have been registered, either by completing the registration form on our website. Once the form has been sent, they must make a deposit of 500 euros for each registered team, within a period of 15 days, to guarantee a place in the loft.

When the places are completed (150 teams), the organization will inform and end the registration period.

Teams and costs

Each team will be made up of ten pigeons, the price of the “perch” per pigeon is €150, (€1500 per team), and two additional pigeons can be sent at no cost in anticipation of any loss.

In this concept, the organization assumes all the expenses derived from their care, food, training, races, etc. This amount must be paid within 30 days of shipping the pigeons.

All pigeons returning from the activation race, which will take place in January, 2025, must pay an additional amount of €150 per pigeon in the following 10 days after the race.

Compulsory

Pigeons must be vaccinated against paramyxoviruses within 20 days prior to shipment, and must be between 45/60 days old.

This protocol is very important and participants must be made aware of it. However, the organization will carry out the complete revaccination protocol upon arrival.

The chicks MUST be accompanied by the ownership title and pedigree when shipped or within the next 30 days by mail.

Warning

If the activation is not paid by the owner within the indicated period, the organization will assume all the rights of the unpaid pigeons (prizes and value of these at auction), being offered so that other people can activate them with all their rights.

Pigeons for auction

All the pigeons that return from the Final will be auctioned on international platforms. The organization has an agreement with the prestigious Belgian auction house Pipa, the rest will be offered for sale (will be auctioned) in another reference house. In all cases the owner (discounting the value of the photograph, transportation, DNA and auction house commission) will receive 50% of the value collected.

The Marismas Masters Race is a unique One Loft Race in Europe that prioritizes the comfort and care of pigeons. The goal is to ensure pigeons can reach their full sporting potential by growing and developing properly before competition.

The race schedule avoids the shedding season and high temperatures, which can cause significant pigeon losses. Southern Spain’s mild winters provide ideal conditions for the event, allowing pigeons to be fully grown and fully moulted.

The race takes place in Puebla del Río, near the Guadalquivir marshlands (“marismas” in Spanish), just 25 minutes from Seville. It is easily accessible by Seville’s international airport and high-speed train lines.

Pigeons remain in the loft for 8 to 11 months. This period ensures they fully develop both physically and mentally. Progressive training begins at the loft, followed by flights from various locations along the flying line.

 • Training Phase: November to December 2024
 • Activation Race: End of January 2025
 • Competition: 10 races, concluding with the Final in March or early April 2025 (approximately 500 km, weather-dependent)

The loft accommodates 2,400 pigeons but limits capacity to 1,500, ensuring greater space, ventilation, and comfort. Each pigeon has its own perch.

If the activation fee is not paid within the specified period, the organization assumes full rights to the unpaid pigeons, including prize winnings and auction value. These pigeons may be offered for activation to other participants.

Pigeons returning from the Final will be auctioned through international platforms. The organization has agreements with the prestigious Belgian auction house Pipa and other reference platforms. Owners receive 50% of the auction value after deducting costs (e.g., photographs, transport, DNA, and commission).
